Fireplace Gas Inserts

General Information

Fireplace inserts are heating units that retrofit into an existing wood-burning fireplace. For homeowners without natural gas service, a liquid propane (LP) tank can be installed. A gas line must be run into the fireplace to connect to the gas insert.

Both vented and vent-free gas inserts are available. Vented fireplace inserts utilize the existing chimney through a flexible, aluminum flue liner while vent-free inserts require no chimney or flue modification. Need more information on venting options? Visit our Learning Center.

Gas inserts have blowers to help circulate the heat. Also, the flames can be adjusted high and low to help regulate the heat. Most gas inserts can be easily operated with a remote control or manual switches.

Gas inserts provide a great source of back-up heat during a power outage.

Gas fireplace inserts offer a way to change an existing, non-efficient wood-burning fireplace into a heat producing, convenient and beautiful source of zone heat.
